Nobody knows why the lyrebirds have this talent, but they are incredibly good at it. I want one as a pet :). And think what can happen if they mimic a sound of a falling tree near you. You might get a heart attack :).

And it is definitely not fake as David Attenborough would not lie to us. He is a real scientist.
